Meeting on the issues of reforming legislation in the field of citizenship and migration

A meeting on reforming legislation in the field of citizenship and migration was held under the chairmanship of the President of the Republic of Vestina.

During the meeting, the Draft Constitutional Law of the Republic of Vestina "On Citizenship of the Republic of Vestina" was considered.

In particular, the new bill introduces the following changes:

— now, in order to obtain citizenship upon marriage with a citizen of the Republic of Vestina, it is necessary to confirm cohabitation in the territory of the Republic of Vestina for at least 3 years and a state in an officially registered marriage for at least 5 years;

— the provisions regulating the legal status of foreign citizens and stateless persons are excluded from this law and will be included in a separate normative legal act - the Law of the Republic of Vestina "On the legal status of foreign Citizens and Stateless Persons in the Republic of Vestina". This draft should be completed by October 01 of this year.

The draft Constitutional Law "On Citizenship of the Republic of the Vestina", considered at the meeting, will be submitted for public discussion from August 21 until August 25 inclusive.
